Most writing about agency software is either a listicle written by an affiliate or a landing page written by the tool itself. This is the second kind, so read it with that in mind. What I can do is show the actual arithmetic, because the arithmetic is the part nobody puts in a comparison table, and it is the part that decides what running a roster costs you over a year.
A Fanvue agency typically runs three categories of tool: a chat and CRM layer that handles DMs across every creator, a content or vault manager, and something for scheduling and analytics. The chat layer is the one that matters financially, because chatting drives roughly 75 to 85 percent of revenue on a well-run account. The main names in this space are Substy, Supercreator, Infloww, CreatorHero, OnlyMonster and Chatvue, and most of them were built for OnlyFans first with Fanvue support added later. That distinction matters more than it sounds: OnlyFans has no official API for this, so those tools generally work by driving the web interface, while Fanvue publishes a real API and OAuth flow. A tool built on the official integration does not break when the site changes its markup.
There are two pricing models and they behave very differently as you grow. The first is a flat fee per connected account, usually $40 to $300 a month depending on tier. The second is a smaller fee plus a percentage of what the tool sells, typically 5 to 15 percent of AI-attributed revenue. On a small roster the difference looks minor. On a growing one it is the largest line item in the business. A ten-model roster generating $100,000 a month in AI-attributed sales pays roughly $5,990 on a tool charging $99 per model plus 5 percent, about $9,490 on one charging $99 plus 8.5 percent, and $890 on a flat $89 per model with no share. Over a year that is a spread of more than $60,000 between the cheapest and the most expensive structure, for software doing broadly the same job.
Sometimes, and it is worth being honest about when. A revenue share aligns the tool with your results, and if a vendor genuinely lifts conversion by several points on a large account, their cut can be cheaper than the revenue you would not otherwise have earned. The problem is that the alignment is asymmetric. The percentage keeps applying long after the setup work is done, it applies to fans who would have bought anyway, and it grows precisely when you are doing well. Every extra $10,000 a month your roster earns costs about $500 more on a 5 percent tool and nothing more on a flat one. If you expect your roster to shrink, revenue share is a hedge. If you expect it to grow, it is a tax on growth, and you should model it over twelve months rather than one before signing anything.
Yes, and this is the operational risk most agencies live with far longer than they should. The common setup is that chatters get the model's actual Fanvue password, which means every chatter can see payout information, change account settings, and read everything, and offboarding someone means rotating a password and hoping it was not saved anywhere. Software with real role separation removes that entirely: a chatter gets their own login, works the review queue, reads fan conversations, and cannot change a persona, edit spending rules, pause an account or open billing. Removing them is a single click with nothing to rotate. Most established agency tools now offer some version of this, and a few go further by letting you assign a chatter to specific creators rather than the whole roster, which is worth asking about directly if your team is large enough that not everyone should see everything.
With no automation, an experienced chatter handles roughly one to three accounts per shift, which is why chatting payroll scales almost linearly with roster size and why it is usually an agency's largest cost. With AI handling first-pass replies and a human reviewing before send, the same person can oversee meaningfully more, because the work changes from writing every message to approving or correcting drafts. The realistic constraint stops being message volume and becomes review throughput, which is why a combined inbox across every model matters more than it sounds: if approving means opening ten separate dashboards and remembering which ones you finished, you have moved the bottleneck rather than removed it.
Five things, in roughly this order. First, the pricing structure, modelled over a year at the revenue you actually expect rather than the revenue you have today. Second, whether it uses Fanvue's official API, because tools that scrape break without warning. Third, whether every model can be reviewed from one place. Fourth, whether team members get their own logins with real permission boundaries. Fifth, what happens to your data and setup if you leave, since a persona and a fan history you cannot take with you is a switching cost being built quietly on your behalf. Ask each vendor the fifth question specifically. The answers vary more than you would expect.
FanWake is the tool this blog belongs to, so treat this as disclosure rather than analysis. It is Fanvue only, built on the official API and OAuth, and it does not support OnlyFans at all. It charges a flat monthly price per model, from a free tier through $39, $89 and $249, and takes no percentage of sales at any tier. Each model carries its own plan, so a top earner and a new signing do not have to cost the same. Every model sits in one account and you switch between them without logging out. Team members are invited by email as owner, manager or chatter, seats are free, and you choose which models each manager or chatter can see. Chatters work from a team inbox where conversations are assigned, everyone can see when a teammate has a chat open, and every message says who sent it. The full rundown is on the FanWake for agencies page. If your agency runs OnlyFans accounts, or you want a single tool spanning both platforms, FanWake is not the right choice and one of the tools named above will serve you better.
